Chan previously represented Canada but received Australian citizenship in 2022. They medaled for the first time on the Challenger series this season, earning silver at Trialeti Trophy. The team narrowly missed out on earning an Olympic quota at the World Championships last season, but secured their spot by placing 2nd at the Skate to Milano competition.

They are 4-time World medalists and two-time Four Continents Champions. The team missed Nationals and Four Continents during the 2022/23 season, and Gilles later revealed that she had been treated for stage 1 ovarian cancer during this time. Poirier has a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics and speaks English, French, Japanese, and Spanish. Gilles and Poirier are five-time Canadian National champions. This season, they revived their popular 2018/19 free dance to “Vincent”.

Lajoie and Lagha partnered up in 2011, and briefly split in 2015 before coach Marie-France Dubreuil encouraged them to reunite. Lagha plays piano and has played at Carnegie Hall. Lajoie’s younger brother is autistic, and she organised a charity event called ‘Atypical Skating’ to raise money for the Autism Foundation.

They announced in 2021 that they would be switching representation to Canada, Lauriault’s birth country. Having lived and trained in Canada for years, and struggling to compete during the pandemic, the team felt Canada was established as their home. Lauriault and le Gac are a couple and have been married since 2015.

China

Shiyue Wang / Xinyu Liu

ISU Personal Best Scores (Rhythm/Free/Total) Music (Rhythm/Free)

119.30 The Bat Man Theme by Krutikov music, A Watchful Guardian by Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, The Batman Trailer Music by Nirvana
196.75

Shiyue Wang (31) and Xinyu Liu (31) represent China. This will be their third Olympics, having placed 22nd in 2018 and 12th in 2022. They withdrew from many competitions over the past few seasons, citing injury problems. However, in 2024, posts briefly appeared on Liu’s Instagram account accusing him of a series of misconducts including sexual assault and embezzling funds from China’s national team. The team claimed Liu’s account was hacked to spread false allegations. They earned an Olympic quota by placing 4th at the Skate to Milano competition, a result that was met with some backlash from ice dance fans.

Czechia

Natálie Taschlerová & Filip Taschler

ISU Personal Best Scores (Rhythm/Free/Total) Music (Rhythm/Free)
77.35 Waiting For Tonight by Jennifer Lopez, Be With You by Enrique Iglesias, Rhythm Divine by Enrique Iglesias
119.83 The Matrix, Matrix Reloaded, Matrix Revolutions
196.39

Natálie Tascherlová (24) and Filip Taschler (26) represent Czechia. They and their compatriots Mrázková/Mrázek are the only siblings competing in figure skating at these Olympics. Last year, Taschlerová opened up about her struggles with anorexia dating back to 2019 and how she was working towards recovery. They placed 16th at the 2022 Olympics, are two-time Challenger gold medalists, and 3-time National Champions. The siblings relocated to Finland to train with coach Maurizio Margaglio in May last year.

Kateřina Mrázková & Daniel Mrázek

ISU Personal Best Scores (Rhythm/Free/Total) Music (Rhythm/Free)
77.29 One Two by AI, Thunderstruck by AC/DC
115.23 Malaguena by Ernesto Lecuona
188.84

Kateřina Mrázková (19) and Daniel Mrázek (22) represent Czechia. The siblings were the 2022 Junior Grand Prix Final bronze medalists and 2023 Junior World Champions. They won their first Challenger medals this season, a silver and a bronze, and are the reigning National Champions. They had to withdraw from the European Championships last month after Mrázek caught the flu. The team have elected to use an AI-generated piece of music in the Rhythm Dance because of struggles they previously had with clearing music last season. This is allowed by the ISU, but has come under scrutiny from fans, especially when an early version of the track plagiarised lyrics from another 90s song.

Finland

Juulia Turkkila & Matthias Versluis

ISU Personal Best Scores (Rhythm/Free/Total) Music (Rhythm/Free)
81.26 María by Ricky Martin, Pablo Flores, Javier Garza, Love You For A Day by Ricky Martin, Desmond Child, Draco Rosa, Randall Barlow, The Cup of Life by Ricky Martin, Pablo Flores, Desmond Child, Draco Rosa

205.69

Juulia Turkkila (31) and Matthias Versluis (31) represent Finland. Both were singles skaters until they teamed up in 2016. They missed the first half of this season due to Versluis suffering from a nerve injury in his leg. The team are the 2023 European bronze medalists and are 6-time National Champions. They placed 15th at the Olympics in 2022. Last season at the World Championships, after a fall in the rhythm dance for Versluis, the team almost failed to qualify for the free dance until another team suffered the same fate and ended up below them. They were able to climb from 20th to 11th place and help secure two spots for Finland at the Olympics (sadly, the other spot had to be given up as the other team didn’t fulfil citizenship requirements).

France

Laurence Fournier Beaudry & Guillaume Cizeron

ISU Personal Best Scores (Rhythm/Free/Total) Music (Rhythm/Free)
87.56 Vogue by Madonna, Shep Pettibone, Rescue Me House Boat vocal by Madonna, Goh Hotdog, Shep Pettibone

222.43

Laurence Fournier Beaudry (33) and Guillaume Cizeron (31) represent France. Cizeron is the 2022 Olympic Champion with his former partner Gabriella Papadakis. Beaudry and Cizeron announced their partnership in March last year. Just before the start of the 2024/25 season, Beaudry’s former ice dance partner and current romantic partner, Nikolaj Sørensen, was banned for a minimum of 6 years by Skate Canada after an investigation into allegations of sexual assault from 2012 had come to light the prior season. The ban has since been overturned due to jurisdictional reasons, but is under appeal. Both Beaudry and Cizeron maintain Sørensen’s innocence and claim the allegations are false. The team have said Sørensen had a role in suggesting Beaudry partner up with Cizeron. They are the reigning European Champions.

Evgeniia Lopareva & Geoffrey Brissaud

ISU Personal Best Scores (Rhythm/Free/Total) Music (Rhythm/Free)

They now train at the Ice Academy of Montreal. Lopareva received French citizenship in 2022 when they were alternates for the last Olympics. They are the 2025 European silver medalists and are 3-time National Champions. Their exhibition gala program, including Il est interdit by Shanna and Satisfaction by Benny Benassi, is a fan-favourite.

They competed in the last Olympics representing Russia and placed 14th. The pair have been married since 2022. In the summer of 2024, they relocated their training from the U.S. to Canada, also joining the Ice Academy of Montreal. They have won gold at four Challenger events. Davis’ mother is coach Eteri Tutberidze. As a child, she was diagnosed with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss after being prescribed incorrect medication. Davis is one of the flag bearers for the opening ceremony.

Steffan and his wife welcomed a son last March, and he has appeared in the Kiss and Cry with them on a couple of occasions this season. They are 5-time Challenger series medalists. Their lifts are a stand-out element.

Great Britain

Lilah Fear (26) and Lewis Gibson (31) represent Great Britain. Gibson was inspired to start skating from watching Dancing On Ice, and competed in pairs and singles before switching to ice dance. Fear is a British-Canadian citizen and had a podcast called The Lilah Jo Show. The team were nicknamed the “Disco Brits” in 2018 after their disco medley free dance brought them a wave of new fans. They placed 10th at the last Olympics, are 4-time European medalists, and won bronze at the World Championships last season, the first medal for the country since Torvill & Dean in 1984. The team are famous for their Halloween costumes each year, and Gibson has notably made huge replica ice skates to be worn as a full-body costume; they have even performed in exhibition galas wearing them. Fear is one of the flag bearers for the opening ceremony.

They train in the U.S. with former British Champions and Olympians Nick Buckland and Penny Coomes. The team have appeared at three European Championships and two World Championships. They won gold on the Challenger series last season, beating out teams that usually would’ve placed higher than them. They earned an Olympic quota by placing 17th at the World Championships last season.

Italy

Charlène Guignard & Marco Fabbri

ISU Personal Best Scores (Rhythm/Free/Total) Music (Rhythm/Free)
90.90 Everybody (Backstreet's Back) extended version by Backstreet Boys, That's the Way I Like It by Backstreet Boys

Guignard and Fabbri are in a relationship and have a pet chinchilla named Molly. They are coached by Olympic bronze medalist Barbara Fusar-Poli, who has become infamous for holding a stopwatch at the boards to make sure her team’s elements don’t incur a time penalty.

Lithuania

Allison Reed & Saulius Ambrulevičius

ISU Personal Best Scores (Rhythm/Free/Total) Music (Rhythm/Free)
83.08 I'm Too Sexy by Right Said Fred, Bettys, Cantloop (Flip Fantastia) by Us3, Rahsaan, Gerard Presencer

203.37

Allison Reed (31) and Saulius Ambrulevičius (33) represent Lithuania. The team qualified a spot for Lithuania at the 2022 Olympics, but were unable to compete as Reed had yet to gain citizenship. She was finally granted citizenship in 2024 after improved results, such as their 2024 European bronze medal. After a fluke fall at the World Championships last season, the team shockingly did not make the free dance segment, which meant they had to wait months to confirm their placement at the Skate to Milano competition. Their preparation paid off, because as well as easily earning the quota for the Olympics, the team had a great Grand Prix series and qualified for the Grand Prix Final for the first time. Reed previously competed at the Olympics in 2010 for Georgia when she was just fifteen. Reed and Ambrulevičius are flag bearers in the opening ceremony.

Republic of Korea

Hannah Lim & Ye Quan

Lim and Quan are 4-time Challenger series medalists and have been in the top 10 at three Four Continents Championships. They were part of the silver medal-winning Korean team at the 2023 World Team Trophy, the first competition they took part in at the Senior level.

Smart took a break from competition after the last Olympics and was a professional skater on Dancing On Ice, which she won. Smart and Dieck teamed up in late 2022 and chose to represent Spain instead of Dieck’s birth country of Germany due to better financial circumstances with the Spanish federation. Their Dune program last season catapulted them up the ice dance hierarchy, and they elected to do a sequel program of Dune Two this season.

Sofía Val & Asaf Kazimov

ISU Personal Best Scores (Rhythm/Free/Total) Music (Rhythm/Free)

Sofía Val (21) and Asaf Kazimov (25) represent Spain. Due to Smart/Dieck’s 6th place at Worlds last season, Spain had the opportunity to earn a second quota at the Skate to Milano competition. Val and Kazimov were able to confirm this spot by placing 3rd. The team was formed in 2022 after both of their previous partnerships dissolved. They are coached by Sara Hurtado and Kirill Khaliavin, who competed as a team for Spain for several years and were domestic rivals of Smart/Díaz. Kazimov, born in Russia but a German resident since 2012, was granted Spanish citizenship in September last year.

177.25

Milla Ruud Reitan (20) and Nikolaj Majorov (25) represent Sweden. Majorov participated in the 2022 Olympics, but as a singles skater. Following the 2022/23 season, Majorov announced he would be retiring from singles and pursuing ice dance due to a back injury that was worsened by jumps. Reitan and Majorov debuted in 2023, and Majorov’s potential in ice dance was immediately obvious. He took to the discipline much faster than most who make a switch. The team placed 5th at the Skate to Milano competition, becoming first alternates for the Olympics. They were given the spot when the Finnish team Orihara/Pirinen had to rescind the second spot due to Orihara not having citizenship. Reitan, originally from Norway, was then on a time crunch to receive Swedish citizenship before the Games. Their spot was confirmed in early January, and they will become the first Swedish ice dance team to compete at the Olympics.

In order to acquire her U.S. citizenship, Carreira lived in Michigan and commuted daily across the border to Canada for training, and finally acquired citizenship in November last year. Zingas and Kolesnik are the reigning Four Continents Champions and qualified for their first Grand Prix Final this season. Kolesnik was born in Ukraine, and his brother is in the Ukrainian army. They are two-time National Champions and have appeared at three European Championships and one World Championship. With Poland qualifying for the Olympics in the other three disciplines, Dovhal and Kulesza earned the opportunity to receive additional athlete quotas specifically to take part in the team event. However, they had to wait until just a week before the Games to have this confirmed, as they were next in line to receive these quotas after the French pairs team were called up as first alternates for the individual event. The team have executed an ambitious lift in competition based on the almost-illegal one competed by Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue at the last Olympics. Dovhal was born in Ukraine and received Polish citizenship in late 2024.
