The fifth of the nine Challenger Series events is Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy and takes place in Beijing, China from the 12th-17th October. It is also the Olympic Test Event.
Despite being announced as a Challenger event, the competition doesn’t actually fulfil the requirements to be considered one. With the lack of competitors in the Ice Dance and Pairs disciplines, and Challengers needing at least 3 disciplines to fulfil participant quotas, it fails to reach this threshold.
