The results of Junior Worlds 2025 determine how many spots each ISU member receives in the following Junior Grand Prix in the 2025/26 season. Although the ISU doesn’t release their official document stating the spot allocation until the off-season, we can determine how they’re decided based on the former year’s document. Unlike the senior field where spots on the Grand Prix are given to specific skaters, spots on the Junior Grand Prix are determined by ISU member federation.
First of all the Junior Grand Prix hosts for 2025/26 are:
- Riga, Latvia (August 20th-23rd)*
- Ankara, Türkiye (August 27th-30th)*
- Varese, Italy (September 3rd-6th)
- Bangkok, Thailand (September 9th-13th)*
- Baku, Azerbaijan (September 24th-27th)
- Gdańsk, Poland (October 1st-4th)*
- Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (October 8th-11th)
*Riga, Ankara, Bangkok, and Gdańsk will feature pairs competitions, only 4 of the 7 events feature pairs competitions as pairs has a smaller field than other disciplines.
Being a JGP host means the ISU member can submit 3 entries in each discipline (or unlimited entries for pairs) at their event regardless of how many spots they earned at Junior Worlds.

In men, women, and ice dance, if an ISU member in the first 3 bullet points does not wish to use all of their spots they will be offered to the teams in the second bullet point for an additional entry. For example, in men, if Slovakia is unable to fill their 14 allocated spots their spare spots will be offered to USA, Germany, and Estonia.
The ISU document released in the summer will detail exactly which competitions will receive the spots, they usually favour members geographically, for example, Asian ISU members are likely to be assigned a spot at JGP Bangkok for ease of travel and cost efficiency.
Since the war in Ukraine began Russia and Belarus have been banned from international competition. An allowance has been made for them to participate in the Olympic Qualifying competition in China ahead of the Olympics next season, but as of now they are still banned from all other ISU competitions including the Junior Grand Prix until stated otherwise. If this were to change they would receive the minimum spots of 1 in 2 events.
